Program Notes:
This work comprises several short variations on an original lyric theme. While each variation combines the sounds of all the diverse instruments in the wind ensemble, some variations are devoted specifically to smaller sub-ensembles for a “chamber music” feel and mood. These variations are interspersed between more energetic variations that feature a “tutti” sound. This work is dedicated with grateful appreciation to Dr. Harlan Parker and the Peabody Wind Ensemble of Baltimore, MD, who are always extraordinary champions of new music.
