Music shall lift us up above the realm of earthly joy,
And bring us higher than we had thought that we could go.
Sing praises to the greatest air of all. Sing!
Program Notes:
I composed this simple canon to enter into a competition sponsored by MENC, the National Association for Music Education, soliciting an Official Canon for the Centennial Celebration in 2007. Although it was not selected, I am still pleased to be able to share it on this website. It should be appropriate and simple enough for any group or adults or children to sing.
